Cyclone oil separator
The objective of this analysis was the optimization of a cyclone-oil separator in reference to the seperation of oil droplets and the pressure loss due to the cyclone.
By using multiple 3D CFD simulations we could on the one hand find an optimal configuration, however it was also shown that a useful seperation rate is accompanied by a high pressure loss.
The CFD simulation therefore displayed, that this form of oil seperation was not useful in the present usecase.
As a result, costly and non expedient prototype testing was avoided.
