Kitchen hood
The objective of this project was to optimize the smoke extraction hood using numerical fluid simulation.
The key issue concerned the influence of the inlet geometry and suction performance on the evacuation of smoke.
Multiple variants were studied using CFD-simulation. Based on the simulation results suggestions concerning the optimization of the current smoke extraction hood could be made.
The images in the reference sheet depict the density distribution within the buoyant water vapor over the cooking pot as well as the velocity vectors, which are colorized in reference to the numerical value of velocity.
