The project involved calculating variants to extend the service life and optimize the production of a screw connection of an exhaust manifold on the flange to the turbocharger.
Due to weight restrictions, an existing design of exhaust manifolds has to be replaced by a new sheet metal design. However, the welded sheet metal construction shows too low a service life.
In the course of the calculations, the position as well as the quality of the weld seams are now questioned and changed. Ultimately, this led to a 6-fold increase in the service life of the exhaust manifold, thus meeting the requirements.
