Determination of fatigue strength
When new technologies are used (plastic joints, brazed seams, etc.), the fatigue strengths are often not known. However, it is important to avoid warranty cases due to fatigue damage already in the design phase.
In these cases, vibration tests and statistical evaluation methods can be used to determine the required fatigue strengths (“Wöhler lines”) of the relevant design details. For this experimental determination, it is necessary to correctly reproduce the relevant loading situations in the test.
In rare cases, vibration tests on complete components or assemblies are also planned and carried out.
