Elastic wing aerodynamics

In this project the Fluid-Structure-Interaction about a flying wing was studied.

The deformation of the wind changes the angle of attack along the wingspan, which in turn has an effect on the distribution of lift.

These effects have an important role with flying wing aircraft and therefore must be studied accordingly.

Aerolastik Nurflügel 2
In addition to using the FE-software Abaqus, the in-house developed panel code P4 was used.

This program is especially well-suited for applications in the field of aircraft aerodynamics as well as the analysis of coupled problems (Fluid-Structure-Interaction) of planar structures.
