Validation calculation model
The FE simulation model was validated on a Transport System Bögl (TSB) center wagon by measuring the deformations of the structure. For this purpose, a raw wagon body was placed at the lifting points and applied with the working loads. The additional load was applied using water tanks in the wagon body or on the roof. The bending of the wagon body is determined at various measuring points using dial indicators and compared with the forecast of the simulation models.
Various load levels (including an overload to reduce internal production stresses) were applied and measured several times. The pictures show the wagon body being prepared for the measurements in the production hall and during the measurements.
A comparison of the FEM measurements (see image on the right) shows that the bending line of the wagon body can be predicted with small deviations (<3%).
